DINE OUT FOR THE FOOD PANTRY - All are invited to dine out at selected restaurants monthly to benefit the food pantry. Each month a different restaurant is selected. Just mention that you are there to support St. Rita and the food pantry gets a percentage of your order.

Thanks to everyone that has participated for their support of this program. Many of you may not really understand how much you are helping. We assure you that you are and please keep asking friends and family to join you.

St. Rita Grandparent’s Club

We are in the process of starting a Grandparent’s Club in St. Rita parish. We would like to have all grandparents that are interested contact the church or school office to join. Some of the activities that are planned are sharing an interesting hobby/career with the children, collecting and processing labels for education, volunteering time at the school, working at the fair and many other activities. All grandparents are welcome.

The 2010-2011 St. Rita School yearbooks are in and available for pick up.

You may come to the school office during working hours–7:30 am to 4 pm–to sign for your yearbook.

Any student who completed the school year at St. Rita is eligible to receive a yearbook.

Safe Environment Plan–Called to Protect

Pursuant to the policy requirments of the Archdiocese of New Orleans, St. Rita Catholic School and Church require all staff members and volunteers who have regular contact with minor children* to undergo annual Child Safety Catechesis per the Safe Environment Plan of the Archdiocese of New Orleans. Through this policy, the archdiocese and parish attempt to safeguard minors and to provide guidance to those who serve them as to how to respond all allegations of physical or sexual abuse or neglect of minors,

The archdiocese has changed the procedure for safe environment training, effective the 2010 – 2011 school year. The diocesan safe environment office will now handle all training sessions. If you intend to volunteer at the school or church in a capacity that puts you in contact with minors, you must attend a session and receive a certificate of completion to be kept in our school/parish files.

There are many scheduled training sessions from which to choose.

We have a list of scheduled sessions in the school office, if you have not yet attended a training session.

Once you have attended a training session, you will be certified for a period of three (3) years. This is a different program than what was previously offered.

*Persons requiring training include but are not necessarily limited to those volunteering in the following ministries: School, CCD, Altar Services, Scouts, CTO, and Youth Group.
